This page is reserved for those few extra special horses who have touched our hearts over the years. All of them have taught me and many others several important lessons in life.
"Misty"
Named after the storybook Chincoteague pony, Misty was the first horse that I took lessons
on and the first horse that became my friend. We won my first blue ribbon together at the
46th annual 4th of July horse show in Kernersville, NC in 1981. She has taught many others
how to ride and take care of a horse and is still owned and loved by the Korner family in
North Carolina.
"Brandy"
Brandy is the first pony to take me over a jump. I began my english riding with this sweet
bay pony. She is no longer with us but was owned and loved by Sheila Boyd of Kernersville,
NC.
"Sid"
Red Ant Impressario affectionately known as "Sid" around the barn, taught me
about Western Pleasure and he was the first horse that I leased and took total care of. It
was Sid that taught me about the pleasures of mucking stalls and daily grooming.
"Captain"
Captain Ladd is the first horse that I ever owned. What made this sweeter was that I won
him through a 4-H contest sponsored by the Forsyth County Trailblazers. Captain is still
with us and has filled our tack room with awards in every event that you could imagine. I
credit him with getting me hooked on Appaloosas, and he still comes first in alot of
decisions we make. Just ask him who gets fed first in the morning...him or me?
"Buckley"(pictured on left)
Buckley was the first horse that my husband and I owned as a couple. He got my husband
hooked and taught him how to ride. It is Buckley that let us explore the magnificent
trails of Louisiana for the first few years that we lived here. He now lives with his
wonderful new owner here in Louisiana, and is the apple of her eye. Anyone who has met
Buckley will have a hard time forgetting him.
